HGG Firearms Training offers private PAL/RPAL courses in and around the Edmonton area. These courses start at $600+GST and get cheaper per person with bigger groups. Private courses are great for:

  • Church groups
  • Reserves or bands
  • Large families

  • Mennonite or Hutterite colonies

Private Class Hosting Guidelines

For most private classes, I do the class at your home, office, church, or other location. The following are some quick guidelines for hosting a successful private PAL or RPAL course.

Usually supplied by location:

  • Enough seating for everyone
  • Access to washrooms
  • A projector or TV to present on (I can bring a TV if required)
  • 2-3 folding tables to hold disabled firearms (I can bring some if required)
  • A smaller separate room for practical testing

I’ll bring:

  • Books for each student and required paperwork for everyone
  • Disabled firearms and ammunition for hands-on practice
  • Way too much enthusiasm, way too early in the morning
  • Pens for people who forget

Students should bring:

  • Photo government ID (though there are some alternatives for ID for minors)
  • Lunch/snacks for the day
  • A pen

How long does the course take?

  • CFSC, the PAL or non restricted course takes 8 hours of instruction plus testing afterwards. Practically speaking, this means an 8:00am start will go until 5-7pm depending on how many people are there to test
  • CRFSC, the RPAL or restricted course takes 4 hours if done within 1 week of the PAL, or 6 hours if not. I often do these back to back (eg: Sat: PAL, Sun: RPAL)
  • For a smaller course with fewer people, I usually need to start setting up 15 minutes before the class.
